Laudato Si’

Encyclical on the Environment

Central to Pope Francis’s environmental encyclical, Laudato Si’, is his call for a universal “culture of encounter,” or dialogue.  Dialogue between science and religion, between the market economy and true human fulfillment, between the overdeveloped North and suffering communities in the South, is essential to “caring for our common home.” Let us pray for conversion to such a dialogical spirituality, even as we live it out by buying less and demanding limits to greenhouse gas emissions from our government. A specific action we can take is to sign the “Catholic Climate Petition”, endorsed by Pope Francis, asking leaders who will meet at the United Nations Climate Summit in Paris this December to commit to dramatically reducing carbon emissions and to aiding countries most impacted by climate change. On the web, go to “Global Catholic Climate Movement” and then “Sign the Petition.”

Delaware River Watershed

A Watershed Moment, is a short video clip of the Delaware River Watershed. This is where most of us SSJ and Associates live and work. In order to appreciate our Earth fully, we need to know how We are affecting our bioregion.
