Sister Frances Ann Hall
Sister Frances Ann Hall died on August 19, 2023 at Saint Joseph Villa, Flourtown, Pennsylvania. Her Funeral Mass was offered at Saint Joseph Villa on September 22, 2023. .
Frances was born to Frank and Anne Hall in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. Several years later the family moved to King of Prussia. Frances attended Sacred Heart School in Swedesburg, Pennsylvnia and graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown, Pennsylvania in 1962. She had two sisters—Cecilia and Mary.
Frances remembered “always wanting to be a Sister.” She was encouraged by her parents as well as her teachers in high school. Although her mother was concerned about Frances’ health, her uncle who was a priest felt certain she would be accepted. She entered the convent and at her Reception in 1963 she received the religious name Sister Francis Michael.
Ministry and spirituality were important to Sister Frances. She graduated from Chestnut Hill College and received her Master’ degree from Beaver College in Arcadia, Pennsylvania. As a Reading Specialist her missions included elementary schools in the Philadelphia area. She accepted change and encouraged others especially in the prayer life. Her favorite spiritual writer was the Trappist monk Thomas Merton.
Sister Frances spent the last years of her earthly life at Saint Joseph Villa. She appreciated the welcoming acceptance of staff and residents as well as the helpfulness of volunteers and associates.
May she enjoy eternal peace and rest in God’s never-ending love, and may she pray for us.
